My most ambitious and long-lasting endeavour is without doubt my comic-albums
with funny animal characters, the Family Gnuff series. Though initially
invented before my licensed work for hire, it came in publishing sequence
to parallel my Woody Woodpecker stories and has its roots both in the
Donald Duck stories from Carl Barks and my attempts to handle Woody Woodpecker
in a more recognizable contemporary setting. In fact I have remade some
of the stories with different sets of characters, so what I actually
do is to tell my own stories, and then the characters at hand are adjusted
to be used to that end. Still there is a overall distinct local Danish
mood to the Gnuff stories that in my own opinion makes the series prolific
enough to stand out in comparison to my use of other characters. |
